Kenmore Gas Dryer Igniter Glows But No Heat
I have a gas dryer that runs but does not heat.
Kenmore gas dryer igniter glows but no heat. Start the dryer and watch the heating chamber. If the igniter does not have continuity replace it. If the ignitor doesn t glow on the other hand it may be bad or a fuse. If the igniter glows but the burner doesn t light then at least you know all the components in the control circuit are getting power.
As the igniter draws electric current it will heat to a high temperature and glow as well as cause the bi metal in the oven safety valve to warp and open the valve releasing the gas to be ignited. I have a kenmore gas dryer model 110 73932101 which had no heat. If igniter fails the gas will not be ignited and the gas dryer will not heat up. Ignites the gas in the burner to create a flame.
Before beginning disconnect the appliance from the gas supply. The igniter uses heat to ignite the gas in the burner assembly. Peek through that hole to see if the igniter is glowing. If the ignitor glows but no gas flows the gas valve solenoids may be bad.
This sequence normally takes about a minute. Set the timer control for a timed dry high heat and start the dryer. Over time the ignitor s delicate metal can break. If the igniter is not working the gas will not ignite preventing the dryer from heating.
To determine if the igniter has burned out u se a multimeter to test the igniter for continuity. When all parts of the dryer are operational the ignitor will heat and begin to glow producing enough heat to ignite the gas once the valve opens. Watch the igniter for several minutes to see if it stays lit or fades off. I replaced the glow plate igniter which fell apart after i removed it so i m confident it had cracked i still had no heat so i.
The igniter glows for a few seconds but the gas valve never opens guess i have already changed the solenoids twice but it did not help the gas is line connected and the supply valve is open it actually had a few little spurts of flame come out ot the the valve going into the igniter but.
